An Augustinian priest who would have celebrated his 40th anniversary as a priest in November has died as a consequence of complications from a car founder 18 months ago.


An Augustinian priest who would have celebrated his 40th anniversary as a priest in November has died as a consequence of complications from a car founder 18 months ago.

The Rev John J Molnar died Wednesday. He was 65

He'd endureed a stroke after a car stranded vessel on his way to work in December 2004 After being hospitalized for several weeks, he was taken to the Mother Theresa abiding-place in Lemont. Family members said he not at all recovered.

John Joseph Molnar was born Aug. 11 1940 in Cleveland and grew up in Fort Pierce, Fla.

He was awarded a bachelor of arts in philosophy in 1963 from Tolentine guild in Olympia Fields, where he studied theology until 1967 He was ordained a priest upon Nov. 21, 1966. The nearest year, he received a master's order in liturgy from the University of Notre Dame.

athwart the course of his career, the Rev Molnar serv as a teacher, pastor and chaplain in every part the Midwest and in Texas. He taught at Mendel Catholic High teach beginning in 1967, returning to Tolentine in 1969 to teach. From 1971 to 1975 he taught at St Rita High institute and returned there in 2002 as the denomination chaplain.



"He was true joyful in life," said Irene Ledlow the same of his three sisters. "He was exceedingly happy to be alive and be involved with people"

She said her brother liked to take onward major projects, such as raising currency to renovate Holy Rosary Parish in Kenosha, Wis., where he was pastor in 1994

"He was a go-getter" she said.

Rev Molnar recured to Chicago to take the chaplain's seat at St. Rita and in 2003 became chaplain of the Franciscan Village retirement community in Lemont

Brother Thomas Taylor, secretary of the Augustinian Province, remembered the Rev Molnar as an of the best quality musician. "He'd sit around and play music, and tribe would sing along with him," Taylor said.

A funeral for Rev Molnar was held Friday at St Nicholas of Tolentine Monastery in Olympia Fields. Funeral arrangements were made by the and of Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral fireside

Other survivors include a brother, Joseph Molnar; and pair other sisters, Barbara Merryman and Helen Moody
